About The Institute for Energy Medicine

The Institute for Energy Medicine had its start in 2002 as The Sanctuary Project, a non-profit project to preserve the indigenous healing techniques of the Americas by building a transitional home for the Qero shamans of Peru. Since then, the organization has evolved into an international non-profit that funds research and education that preserves and disseminates the traditional energy healing of the Americas.

The organization was founded by Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. and Linda Fitch, with significant support of time, energy, and funding from The Four Winds Society, its staff, students, and graduates.

IEMs programs have trained thousands of Western students to give and receive ancient healing rites as well as support those transitioning through death through volunteer support and coaching of family members in the Great Death Rites. These programs have affected thousands.

In addition, the Institute has funded scientific research of the effects of these techniques as well as funding the transitional home in the Cusco region of Peru for the native shamans to spread their knowledge within Peru and to Western students.

With continued support, these programs will continue to facilitate the preservation and modern application of this profound wisdom for generations.
